Resign by July 31, Bauchi orders office holders interested in contesting elections

Gov. Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar of Bauchi State

The Bauchi State government has directed that all political/public office holders who want to contest any political positions in the 2019 general elections should resign their appointments by July 31, 2018.

A statement by Adamu Hashimu, Permanent Secretary, Political, Research and Economic Affairs, on behalf of the Secretary to the State Government, said that the directive, which covers all political appointees, including Local Government Caretaker Chairmen, was informed by the need for the government  to organize itself to discharge the peoples mandate for the remaining part of the term.

The statement recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s recently released time table for the conduct of the 2019 General Elections in the country, has scheduled Primary Elections for various political positions to commence in August 2018.
