
He made the pledge, weekend, when the National President of the body, Olorogun James Omero and his entourage paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House in Port-Harcourt, the state capital.
The Governor thanked NIESV for making him the patron of the Rivers State Chapter of the body and assured him that his administration will always partner and cooperate with professional bodies to boost the economy of Rivers State.
Governor Wike also admitted that government’s assets and properties must be insured against fire and other accidents.
On the issue of land title, the Governor told the President of NIESV that it is the policy of his administration to have all landed property titled and that is why the state attorney general has been mandated to handle the signing of all titled documents to reduce bureaucratic delays .
“The reduction of time it takes to obtain titled documents for landed property will help title holders have access to bank funds and this will boost economic activities in the state,” said the governor.
The Governor said, henceforth, signing of titled documents will take four to five weeks rather than six weeks from the date of the submission of the application.
The Governor also promised to make a member of NIESV the head of the Ministry of Lands in the next few weeks.
The State Chief Executive said his administration has resolved to complete any meaningful project that has direct and positive impact on the people of Rivers State -irrespective of whether the previous administration started it or not.
On the issue of security, Wike said that his government has reduced the spate of kidnapping in the state. He said the amended kidnapping law is a major deterrent. He noted that cultism in the state is being adequately confronted.
Governor Wike assured the President that his administration will give the Rivers State chapter of NIESV all the necessary support it needs to operate smoothly.
Speaking earlier, the President of NIESV who congratulated Governor Wike on his electoral victory, remarked that Rivers State is one of the most important states in the country economically.
He congratulated the governor on his achievements -especially completing the projects started by his predecessor.
His words: “When other state executives are still mourning the non- availability of funds, we want to congratulate you for hitting the ground running. We see you on television everyday flagging off various road construction projects, especially in areas where the less privileged live; I am talking about the Diobu, Borikiri and Obio/Akpor areas of the state.
“God will surely reward you for making the people happy” he prayed.
The NIESV President also thanked Governor Wike for ensuring the election of some of its members into the State and National Assemblies.
