The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus has told the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, that by conniving with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to thwart the will of the Nigerian people they are piling gunpowder which when it explodes may leave the country in ruins.
Prince Secondus, who led members of the National Working Committee, NWC, other leaders and a crowd of party supporters in protest at the INEC’s Maitama, Abuja headquarters on Tuesday told the Commission officials who came to receive their complaints, that they should not allow their actions bring trouble to the country.
The National Chairman said that INEC’s roles in Presidential and National Assembly election on February 23, fell short of the required standard and cannot stand any scrutiny.
In a statement from his media office, Prince Secondus told the Commission that after the 2015 peaceful and transparent election anybody conducting a charade in the name of election should know the implications of pilling a keg of gunpowder in one’s house, when it explodes nobody will be free of the harm.
Prince Secondus said that after February 23 ‘fraud’ the party is in possession of credible intelligence that some INEC officials are already working with the APC to again thwart the will of the people in Delta, Akwa Ibom, Sokoto, Rivers, Kwara and Kaduna states warning that the commission should know that every action has a consequences both to man and before God.
He said that the leadership of the PDP under his watch has the authority of members of the party across the country and in diaspora to leave no stone unturned until the stolen mandate of the party is recovered.
“The mood in the country shows clearly that you, INEC, declared the wrong person winner in the Presidential election and I urge you to watch your action because history is recording all you do for posterity
“The APC is deploying military operatives to help some of your black legs manipulate Saturday’s elections in some states particularly Kaduna, Delta, Sokoto, Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Kwara but Nigerians in those states have mobilized to defend their votes.
Three National Commissioners led by Mrs May Agbamuche received the PDP leaders and assured that the commission will look into the party’s complaints..
As the leadership of the party talked outside the front gate of the Commission, the angry crowd poured curses on the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu and National Commissioner Amina Zakari as they chanted ‘we want original result’, ‘INEC release original result’, ‘INEC declare Atiku winner’ ‘ Yakubu there is God, Yakubu shame on you’ etc.
The National Chairman who led the protest trekked about three kilometers from the party’s Legacy House campaign headquarters in Maitama to the INEC office and stood for about 30 minutes dancing the Atikulation music (campaign music theme of the party) before the commission officials came out to attend to them.
