NDDC Board: Tinubu bows to pressure, replaces Ondo, Cross River States representatives; MD’s reappointment on acting capacity

President Bola Tinubu has approved the immediate replacement of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC)’s Ondo State Representative nominee, Mr. Victor Akinjo, with a new Representative nominee, Hon. Otito Atikase.

The President, according to a statement by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity) has equally approved the immediate replacement of the NDDC’s Cross River State Representative nominee, Mr. Asi Oku Okang, with a new Representative, Rt. Hon. Orok Otuk Duke.

The statement added that the immediate past Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, is reappointed to a second term and will remain in acting capacity, pending the Senate’s confirmation of his reappointment.
The Ondo and Cross River States’ chapters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had cried out, in press statements and representations to the presidency that the initial nominees to represent their states were Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members who had worked against the interest of the APC in the 2023 general elections.
They had insisted that appointing them would send a signal to members of the party in the states that those nominees were being rewarded for working against the APC.
