Victims of recent killings in Rabah local government Area of Sokoto state have started receiving relief materials from Nigerians.
One of the early donors was Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko who sent in N2 million, one thousand bags of 10kgs of rice, 500 wrappers, 100 cartons of toilet soap and ointments.
Senator Wamakko announced the gesture in Gandi town when he paid a condolence visit to the District Head of Gandi, Alhaji Maccido Yarin Gandi .
Senator Wamakko who represents Sokoto North Senatorial District described the incident as a sad development and an obnoxious trend which was never heard of in the State.
He called for fervent prayers to God, to prevent the recurrence of the deplorable killings, as well as the repose of the souls of the deceased persons.
Senator Wamakko lauded the state government, the state Zakkat and Endowment Commission, the District Head of Gandi and other agencies, for their efforts in providing the welfare and security needs of the victims at the IDP camp.
The Chairman of the Committee set up by the state government for the distribution of relief materials to the IDPs, at the Gandi camp, Alhaji Ibrahim Magaji Gusau, who is also the Special Adviser on Political Affairs, said that adequate measures have been taken to ensure that the victims were comfortable.
The District Head of Gandi, Alhaji Maccido Yarin Gandi, commended Senator Wamakko for the donation.
