Sokoto state government is ready to provide free land for any developer willing to invest in the State, Engineer Ahmed Moyi Tambuwal has assured.

Moyi Tambuwal, who is the Permanent Secretary, Sokoto State Ministry of Lands, Survey, Housing and Urban Planning stated this Monday at the ongoing 11th meeting of the National Council on Lands, Housing and Urban Development.

The 5 days meeting holding at the Dankeni Guests Palace Hotels, Sokoto with the theme, “Housing Our People, By All Of Government And All Our People”, has in attendance participants from across the federation.

Moyi Tambuwal, who in his opening speech maintained that shelter is critical to family good, added that its absence exposes humanity to insecurity and vulnerability.

According to Tambuwal, the theme of the meeting is a clear testimony that housing development is not only for government hence the need for more involvement of the private sector and individuals to ensure housing for all.

In his introductory remark, Mr. Jide Ode, the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics of the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, said the timing of the meeting is very significant as it will help them make adequate contributions towards ensuring that affordable houses are delivered to Nigerians.

Mr. Jide however stressed that the federal government alone cannot provide affordable housing to all Nigerians hence the need for other stakeholders to come on board and increase the stock of affordable houses in Nigeria.

On the meeting, Mr. Ode said, ” It is appropriate to highlight that the Council meeting is preceded by a 2-Day Technical meeting of the Directors, Heads of Agencies and Professional Bodies in the build environment and the meeting of the Permanent Secretaries on the 3rd Day, being 26th July, 2022.

‘The responsibility of the Technical meeting of the Directors as you are aware is to create solid and resourceful foundation by diligently reviewing the Memoranda submitted by stakeholders and fine-tuning the recommendations to the meeting of the Permanent Secretaries for consideration and presentation to the main Council at its meeting on Thursday, 28th July, 2022″.
