The home-based Super Eagles team, also known as Super Eagles B, lost their opening match at the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) to Senegal.
The match, played on Tuesday, ended 1-0 in favour of the Senegalese side. Nigeria struggled to create clear chances and could not find a way back after going behind.
Senegal scored the only goal of the game in the first half and held on to their lead despite Nigeria’s efforts to equalise.
The defeat means Nigeria will need a win in their next match to boost their chances of advancing from the group stage.
The CHAN tournament is reserved for players who play in their country’s domestic leagues.
