Super Eagles held by Jordan as Uzoho struggles, Iwobi sees red

Nigeria played a 2-2 draw against Jordan in an international friendly match in Antalya, Turkey, with several Super Eagles players delivering mixed performances.

Despite controlling large parts of the game, Nigeria failed to secure victory and remain without a win against the Middle Eastern side. The match showed both the team’s attacking strength and its defensive weaknesses.

In goal, Francis Uzoho had a poor outing. He looked shaky and failed to deal with a simple effort that led to Jordan’s opening goal, raising more concerns about Nigeria’s goalkeeping options.

At the back, Bright Osayi-Samuel impressed with a solid display and provided the assist for Nigeria’s second goal. However, Igoh Ogbu struggled to organise the defence, while Emmanuel Fernandez had a mixed game, scoring but showing weakness in positioning.

Zaidu Sanusi delivered an average performance, doing his job defensively and supporting the attack when needed.

In midfield, Raphael Onyedika and Frank Onyeka helped Nigeria control the game early on, but their influence reduced after substitutions were made.

On the wings, Moses Simon stood out as Nigeria’s best attacker, scoring the equaliser and constantly troubling the opposition defence. Ademola Lookman showed effort but lacked end product, while debutant Yira Sor had a quiet game.

Up front, Akor Adams worked hard but did not pose much threat in front of goal.

Substitute goalkeeper Adebayo Adeleye also failed to impress after coming on, adding to the team’s goalkeeping worries.

The biggest talking point came from Alex Iwobi, who was sent off shortly after coming on. His red card followed a poor reaction and disrupted Nigeria’s control of the match.

Captain Wilfred Ndidi was introduced to stabilise the team, but Nigeria lost control late on and conceded the equaliser.

The result highlights the need for improvement, especially in defence and game management, as the Super Eagles continue their preparations for future competitions.
