Super Falcons to face Cameroon in two friendly matches ahead of WAFCON 2026

The Super Falcons of Nigeria will face Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses in two friendly matches as part of their preparations for the 2026 Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

The matches will be played in Yaounde during the FIFA Women’s International Window from 24 February to 7 March 2026. The first game will take place on Saturday, 28 February, while the second match will be played on Tuesday, 3 March 2026.

Both teams met in a friendly match before the last Women Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where Nigeria won 2-0 in Abeokuta.

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi, said all arrangements for the games have been concluded with the Cameroon Football Federation. He said the aim is to ensure the Super Falcons are well prepared to defend their WAFCON title and qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

Cameroon Football Federation General Secretary, Isaac Mandong, said they are happy to host Nigeria and strengthen the relationship between the two football bodies.

The 13th Women Africa Cup of Nations will be held in Morocco from 17 March to 3 April 2026. The four semi-finalists at the tournament will qualify directly for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The Super Falcons are the current champions, having won their 10th WAFCON title in Morocco last summer. They defeated Tunisia, Botswana, Zambia, South Africa and host nation Morocco on their way to lifting the trophy.
