Oka Community was thrown into confusion when bombs suspected to be planted by kidnappers at house number 41 Zomizomi Street, Upper Sokpoba Road area in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area of Edo state exploded injuring at least three people.

According to a witness, the Improvised Explosive Devises, IED, destroyed property worth millions of naira including fridges and other electronic gadgets. The first explosion occured at about 2:10 pm while the other occurred at 6:20 pm.

The explosions shattered windows of houses in the area. It was also gathered that the new tenant of the house was burning refuse and went to buy ice cream when the bomb exploded destroying his fence, ceiling and other valuables.

At the time of filling this report, men of the Edo State Police Command were busy seeking out and detonating other bombs suspected to have been planted in the area.

The tenant in the building who gave his name as Chinedu Elue told newsmen that “it was when an electrician came to work in the house that I decided to burn some papers. I then went to go and buy ice cream. It was during that time that I was injured from the explosion in my house.

“I moved into the house 9 months ago and a couple and I live there. I am surprised that this kind of thing is happening.”

Men of the anti-bomb squad led by DCP Musa Uba detonated other explosives found in the compound.
