Three more Nigerians win elections in the US; NIDCOM salutes them

Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has celebrated three more Nigerians who have been declared reelected into their respective districts’ seats in the United States of America (USA).

They are Reps Gabe Okoye representing Georgia District 102, Phil Olaleye, representing 59th District of Georgia, and Solomon Adesanya, a Democrat, representing 43rd District in the Georgia House of Representatives.

Dabiri-Erewa, in the congratulatory message issued by the Director of Media and Public Relations of the Commission, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, described the trio as worthy ambassadors of Nigeria.

The NIDCOM boss said the re-election  of the three was not accidental but a result of the proven track records of their performances in office, for which their constituents voted them back into their seats.

Gabe Okoye is an Enugu state-born Nigerian–American Civil Engineer who on November 8, 2022, became elected a legislator at the 2022 US midterm elections representing Georgia State. He took office on January 9, 2023 and got re-elected in the Nov. 5, 2024 election.

39 year old Solomon Adesanya is a Nigerian-American businessman and politician. He was elected on November 8, 2022, in the 2022 US midterm elections and was re-elected to the Georgia House of Representatives representing the 43rd District mainly Marietta and a small part of Northwest Atlanta. Adesanya won the seat in a district historically held by a Republican on Nov. 5, 2024.

Harvard-trained Phil Olaleye, is a US politician and the former executive director of a non-profit educational foundation.

He was also elected on Nov. 8, 2022 as a Member of the Georgia House of Representatives from the 59th District and assumed office January 9, 2023. He, too, was re elected on Nov. 5, 2024 to represent the same District 59 on the platform of the Democratic Party.

Thus far, five Nigerians which include Dr Oye Owolewa, District of Columbia, Segun Adeyina, Georgia, USA, Gabe Okoye, Phil Olaleye and Solomon Adesanya won their respective re-elections in the US,  while Chiaka Barry, won in the Ginninderra District in Australia, and Yemi Mobolade, was elected Mayor of Colorado Springs, USA in a historic election in 2023.
