President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of three new Director Generals and an Executive Secretary for key government agencies.
In different statements by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, his Special Adviser (Media & Publicity), announcing the appointments, President Tinubu tasked the appointees to be dedicated, patriotic, transparent and efficient.
The new appointees are Mr. Baffa Dan Agundi, Director-General of the National Productivity Centre (NPC), Mr. Umar Ibrahim Mohammed, Director-General of the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA), Mr. Silas Agara, Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and Mr. Tosin Adeyanju, Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF).
Mr. Agundi, the new DG, NPC, is a former majority leader of the Kano State House of Assembly, and was also Principal Registrar of the Kano State High Court of Justice.
President Tinubu, according to Ngelale, anticipates the new DG’s “utmost dedication and patriotic zeal in driving the Centre’s mandate of developing a national culture of excellence in operational efficiency and institutionalizing a performance-driven orientation toward measurable productivity in the citizenry for the overall enhancement of service delivery and quality of life across the nation.”
Mr. Mohammed, the new DG NIHSA, is an architect and a construction technology and environment professional, and the President expects, under his watch, “improved outcomes in the agency’s objective of operating and maintaining hydrological stations nationwide, as well as carrying out groundwater exploration and monitoring, using various scientific techniques in order to provide hydrological and hydrogeological data needed for planning, design, execution and management of water resources and allied projects.”
DG of NDE, Mr. Agara, is an entrepreneur and sports administrator who previously served as the Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, and President Tinubu anticipates an overhaul of the Agency in his charge “for optimal performance in designing and implementing programmes to combat mass unemployment.”
Mr. Adeyanju, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of NLTF, Ngelale’s statement said, is an accomplished administrator, and good governance advocate, and President Tinubu expects him to ensure transparency and efficiency in the operations of the agency to actualize its objective as a driver of good causes in Nigeria.
