President Bola Tinubu has inaugurated the reconstructed 6.7 kilometre Port Harcourt Road in Aba, executed by Governor Alex Otti, describing the project as a “miracle” and a clear demonstration of good governance.

The road, which was rehabilitated by the Gov. Alex. Otti-led administration has a dual carriageway, with three lanes on each side and modern drainage systems.

Also, the road which had been in a deplorable state for over 20 years before its rehabilitation, was delivered seven months ahead of schedule.

Speaking on Friday at the inauguration of the road in Aba, the president, who was represented by the Minister of Works, Sen. Dave Umahi, lauded Governor Otti’s commitment to timely and quality delivery of infrastructural projects.

He said that the Federal Government would continue to support states that prioritise effective leadership.

“This road is a miracle. Years ago, it was impassable, and at one point we attempted to cross it by canoe. Today, God has remembered Abia with good leadership,” Tinubu said.

He disclosed that the Umuahia–Ikot Ekpene Road had been approved for Governor Otti to execute, adding that the second dual carriageway on the Aba–Port Harcourt Road would also receive federal attention this year.

In his remarks, Gov. Alex Otti of Abia expressed delight at the timely completion of the project.

Otti noted that the road project, which began in October 2023 and was slated for completion in December 2025, was delivered in May 2025.

Other roads inaugurated by the President in Aba include Ohanku Road, Ndoki Road, Ajiwe Street, Umuatako Road, Chief Nkoro Street and SPURS, Abayi Aba, as well as Gabriel Nwosu Street.
