Two candidates emerge from Borno parallel PDP governorship primaries

Alhaji Mohammed Imam has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in a parallel primary held by the Zannah Gaddama faction of the party.

Declaring the result, chairman PDP governorship primary in Borno state, Barrister  Gabon Katas said  ” having scored the highest votes cast of   2,857 and based on the powers bestowed on me by the constitution of our , I hereby declared Alhaji Mohammed Imam as PDP candidate in Borno.

Alhaji Abaa Kyari came second with 57 votes. While the former state  minister of power scored 20 votes.

In.his acceptance speech, Alhaji Mohammed Imam said said if elected governor of the state, he is going to embark on massive reconstruction of the places destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents, agriculture, the education sector  and job creation.
While at the new state PDP Secretariat where the parallel election held, the former minister for Power. Hon Mohammed Wakil emerged  winner with 1,384 against Abba Kyari who came second with  488, Mohammed Imam scored 11 votes from total vote cast of 2,384.
However, the third PDP aspirant, Dr. Kyari Abba Bukar called for the cancellation of both the primaries and the conduct of fresh primaries where both factions will be available.
“I therefore call on the PDP gubernatorial panel to cancel both the primaries and conduct fresh election. I am party to Gaddama faction primary became the faction was not recognized by the law, while the primaries held by Baderima faction was also illegal because there was no party headquarters and INEC representatives. I am not a party to illegality,” he added while briefing newsmen.
