Ugwuanyi swears-in new acting President of Customary Court of Appeal for Enugu

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state, Wednesday, administered the swearing-in of the new acting president of the Enugu State Customary Court of Appeal, Justice George Nnamani, with a charge to him to apply dignity, integrity and total commitment to the sensitive job.

Governor Ugwuanyi who spoke after the swearing-in ceremony at the Government House, Enugu, noted that the exercise was in accordance with the provisions of Section 281 (5) of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria as amended in order not to create a vacuum in that office.

He thanked the immediate past acting President of the Court, Justice Christopher Osita Onyia for his service and congratulated Justice Nnamani on his appointment as the acting President of the court for three months with effect from the day of his swearing-in.

The governor revealed that with the nomination of non-statutory members that the process of reconstituting the State Judiciary Service Commission has commenced.

In a speech to express his feelings about his new position, Justice Nnamani thanked the governor for finding him worthy to serve promising to discharge his duties creditably.

In his words, “You have exercised your discretion in my favour, I want to thank you immensely for this.”  He assured the governor that any day he looked the direction of the customary court of Appeal of the state that the governor is going to nod in satisfaction for the time of his watch.

He said, “This is because I will have that institution at my watch build on a tripod of integrity, efficiency and dedication he learnt from his mentor the Chief Judge of Enugu State, Justice Innocent Umezulike whom he said nurtured and raised him”

The new president further prayed that God gives Governor Ugwuanyi the grace to continue with his arresting humility which he has and extends his political horizon beyond his wildest dream.

He also commended the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Umezulike for raising him out of noting assuring him that he would not disappoint him.

Earlier in a speech before the Swearing-in ceremony, the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Umezulike assured Governor Ugwuanyi that the new acting president of the State Customary Court, Justice Nnamani would perform in his new post based on his track records. He also praised

Governor Ugwuanyi for being a leader that believes in the rule of law.

The event was witnessed by state top government officials and friends of the new acting president of the court.
