To this end, the bank decided to do away with slow pace and analog way of banking with their simpler and smarter banking products, services and processes.
Speaking at UNIONKORRECT product launch and branch unveil of the bank, along Yakubu Gowon Way, and Ahmadu Bello Way respectively, the Executive Director (Public Sector) Union bank Plc, Ibrahim Kwargana, encouraged customers to migrate to mobile banking and online banking with the bank.
Kwargana added that customers can open a UnionKorrect account with only N5, 000.00 with customers going through little or no stress to get documented.
He said, “Our goal is to make banking simpler and smarter for our numerous customers across the country. Restructuring and upgrading of all Union bank branch locations remains a critical piece of the transformation because it ensures that we are in the right locations and serving the right customers in a functional and professional setting”. So far we have refurbished more than 50 branches across the country, putting into consideration, the behavior of our customers towards modern banking”.
Speaking also on the product launch, the ED recounted the benefits of the Unionkorrect account which was officially launched in Kaduna, adding that owners of the account stand to enjoy numerous benefits plus the opportunity to win big.
Explaining further on the Unionkorrect product launch the Head of Retail Banking, Carlos Wanderley said, ” we have a limited number of people participating in the UnionKorrect save small win big promo in each Union Bank branch and this has dramatically increased the possibility for customers to win the cash prizes”. He promised that Union bank would continue to launch simple and smart products, to increase the interest of people in bank transactions.
In his speech, Head, Retail Products, Sheahan Arasaratnam explained that Unionkorrect is a unique account to ensure that Nigerians bring back the culture of saving. “A product that brings back the culture of savings for Nigerians and saving with a lot of excitement. A total of 300 customers are expected to win in the draws with the grand prize of a million naira up for grabs said Sheahan.
Also addressing the press at the event, Kaduna State Accountant General, Mr Umar Hassan Waziri who unveiled the new upgraded branch at Ahmadu Bello way said after inspecting the new look Union Bank: “It promises to revolutionize banking in Nigeria, a change that we may never have seen before in this country. I’m impressed.”
Meanwhile, some of the Union bank’s customers shared their experiences on what they initially went through to access the services of the bank.
For Mrs Fatima Olowokore, “Initially, I saw Union Bank as an archaic bank, but when I started banking with it over two years ago, I discovered that the bank has embraced new generation way of banking. I will open five new accounts with the newly introduced UNIONKORRECT account.”
But for Managing Director, Arewa Metal Company,Mr. Joachim Daudu, “I abandoned my Union Bank account for 18 years because of time wasting and old way of doing banking. However, a friend encouraged me recently because he was able to access the services less than five minutes. I decided to go back to revive my dormant account of 18 years because of the simpler and smarter services that the bank is operating now”.
Also CEO, Edi-Jen Group of companies, Ben Omale, and others attested to the quality of services in the bank.
It could be recalled that the product was originally launched in Lagos on Monday November 2, 2015 and in Ibadan on Wednesday November 25, 2015.
