Video shows Vice President Osinbajo has been stridently condemning killings across Nigeria

Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Vice President

A group, called The New Tribe (TNT), has risen in defence of the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, over allegations that he has not been speaking out concerning the state of insecurity in parts of the country, especially the killing of Christians, Moslems and Nigerians in general.

The group, to make its case as graphically as possible, started, on Friday, September 3, 2021 the sharing, on YouTube, of a video of the many instances when the Vice President spoke up in strong condemnation of the activities of insurgents, armed killer herdsmen, bandits, cattle rustlers, kidnappers and other groups that have been attacking and killing innocent Nigerians.

The video, which is now being widely circulated on social media platforms shows the Vice President, at different fora, speaking unequivocally in denunciation of the marauding herdsmen, bandits and insurgents, as well as of the efforts being made by the President Muhammadu Buhari -led Federal Government to stop the killings and bring the perpetrators to book.

Professor Osinbajo is shown condemning in strong terms, the “merciless massacre” of farmers, the sacrilegious killing of priests and worshippers, the “horrible tragedy” of the “mindless killings” in Borno, Benue, Plateau, Taraba, Shasha, Ebonyi, among others.

Assuring that efforts, including reorganization of the country’s security architecture, are being made by government to halt the killings, Professor Osinbajo also spoke of collaboration with the state governors towards achieving cessation of the atrocities and horrible tragedies as well as reconstruction of damaged property and payment of compensation..

The video also showed news clips debunking allegations that the Vice President was supervising the establishment of Ruga Settlements. The clips showed that the Federal Government had discarded the idea of Ruga Settlements and, instead, embraced the National Livestock Transformation Plan proposed by the National Economic Council (NEC), headed by the Vice President.

The video concluded with the Vice President affirming that he is a born-again Christian and that nothing would make him renounce his faith.
