We are determined to rescue Chibok girls and all other Boko Haram captives – Gen. Buratai

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai has assured that the military is determined, not only to rescue the abducted Chibok school girls but all those under the captivity of Boko Haram insurgents.

The Army Chief, who disclosed this on Friday in Maiduguri, while commissioning a Relaxation Centre at the Maimalari Barracks Maiduguri said in the past one month the military has rescued over 11, 000 people.

Lt. General Buratai said “with the recent successes we have been recording in liberating more communities, in just the last month we rescued over 11,000 persons and we hope to not only rescue the Chibok girls but everybody under the captivity of the insurgents”.

He said he was in the state as part of his routine visit to his men on the field within the theater of operation, stressing that he was impressed with the recent successes of counter insurgency operations.

While commending the gallant efforts of the soldiers, General Buratai said he will always make the welfare of troops his priority. He urged them to maintain the tempo until they completely wipe out terrorism and insurgency in the North-East and the country at large
