We still need your wisdom, Dankwambo tells retired Perm. Secs.

Gov. Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe State
Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of Gombe State has called on retired Permanent Secretaries across the country to offer advises and make meaningful contributions to the running of affairs of Government whenever the need arises.
Dankwambo made the appeal through the Head of Civil Service of the State, Alhaji Adamu Haruna Abubakar, during the opening ceremony of the First National Conference of the Associations of States Retired Permanent Secretaries, held at the multi-purpose hall of the Gombe State University, Gombe.
According to the Governor, their wisdom and experience cannot be overlooked in Governance now following the positive contributions they made during their lives of service.
He commended them for choosing Gombe for the maiden National Conference and hoped that what they will learn will benefit the country as a whole.
Earlier, Chairman of the Association of Retired Permanent Secretaries in Gombe State and former Secretary to the Gombe State Government (SSG), Alhaji Daudu Umar Abdulsalam, said the association’s dream in Gombe is to form the association at the national level and for States who have not formed theirs to do so.
He said, “I feel highly elated that our gathering today is a result of months of intensified sensitization and mobilization of colleagues in all the states of the federation to embrace the idea of forming National Association of States Retired Permanent Secretaries of Nigeria.
“Interestingly, people saw wisdom and generally accepted the idea wholeheartedly. The one day national conference is therefore designed to map out modalities for the formation of the national association”.
In his goodwill message, Ambassador Sa’idu Mohammed Fawu, lamented the near collapse of the core ideals of the civil service such as dedication, total commitment to duty, loyalty, hard work, discipline, reward and punishment and promotion through merit and not god-fatherism.
He however, stated that with the coming on board of the Association, it has a duty to ensure due process, offer critical expertise on all matters of the service and synergize with like minds to advise Governments on sensitive issues.
