We’re determined to improve Abia’s ease of doing business indices – Deputy Gov.

The deputy governor of Abia, Chief Ikechukwu Emetu has expressed the commitment of the government to evolve strategies that will enhance the state’s ease of doing business indices.

Emetu said this at a stakeholders meeting for the drafting of 2024 Business Enabling Reforms Action Plan (BERAP) for Abia held at Joint Allocation Account C at the State Secretariat, Ogurube Layout Umuahia.

He said that the government has taken steps to transform the state into a business friendly environment that will unlock opportunities for economic growth.

According to him, the present administration would not relent in attracting investments and supporting entrepreneurs and small business owners to thrive in the state.

The deputy governor, who is also the state Chairman for the drafting of 2024 BERAP, described the meeting as a significant milestone in the collective journey towards improving the ease of doing business in Abia.

He added that the meeting consists of a diverse group of multi-sectorial stakeholders that play vital roles in shaping the future of the state’s business sector.

Emetu urged the participants to engage actively in the meeting and offer practical insights to ensure that the final document that would be produced at the end of the meeting would be comprehensive, realistic and implementable.

Earlier, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Ease of Doing Business, Mrs. Agbonma Ukaobasi said that the meeting would be focused on enhancing collaboration between the MDAs and the private sector in Abia.

Ukaobasi, who is the Coordinator, further said that BERAP was evolved to serve as a strategy to create a friendly and conducive environment for investors in Abia.

She also said that people in the rural areas and people with disabilities would not be left out, and that provision had been made to conduct sensitisation awareness campaigns through the media and the village youth leaders.
