2023: Ooni hosts Atiku, charges him to ensure better life for the masses, if elected President

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja 11, has called on the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, if elected to office, to serve Nigerians and ensure better life for the masses of the country.

The Ooni gave the charge during a courtesy visit to his Palace in Ile-Ife, on Tuesday by Atiku. He stressed that it is only God Almighty that gives power, emphasising that the country belongs to everyone.

He noted that the target of every political leader should be to serve the people and better their lives, pointing out that everyone in the country wanted a restoration of hope and better life for all.

He urged political leaders to see themselves as servants of the people and strive to always to love the people they serve, especially the youths of the country.

Earlier, the PDP Presidential candidate, commended the Ooni for the fatherly role he has been playing, especially in the area of maintenance of peace and tranquility across the country.

Atiku, who said that he did not come to the Palace to campaign but to pay respect to the Monarch noted that from records, Nigeria witnessed its greatest growth, biggest prosperity and most peaceful coexistence during the PDP administration between 1999 to 2015.

He stressed that it is time for Nigerians to give the PDP another opportunity to lead so that the unity of the country can be restored, so that the country can be secured and so that the country can prosper.

The Former Vice-president said that, if voted for at the next general elections, he will ensure that all the electoral promises of the party are fulfilled.

He said further that one of the cardinal programmes that the PDP has promised the people is to restructure Nigeria and reassured that if voted in as the next Nigerian President under PDP government, he’ll ensure the restructuring of the country and devolution of more powers to states and local govts.

“We’ll also ensure that the National Assembly amends Nigeria’s constitution to give power to all traditional rulers,” he assured.

Gov Ademola Adeleke of Osun appreciated God for giving him the opportunity to take the mantle of the leadership of the state and thanked the Ooni, the people of the ancient city of Ile-Ife and Osun State at large, promising that he would not disappoint them.
