Senator Orji mourns Prestige, Izuwa, Ukpai; Calls for prayers

Senator Theodore Orji

Senator Theodore Orji, representing Abia Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has lamented the recent deaths of some prominent citizens of the state, urging that prayers be said to avert recurrence of “such sudden devastating deaths.”

In a statement, Senator Orji, a former two-term Governor of Abia state regretted that though death is a universal phenomenon and has been striking across party lines, tribes and religions, ”excruciatingly in Abia, Hon Ossy Prestige of the House of Reps, Director General, Chidi Izuwa of the Presidency and Chief Ukpai Agwu Ukpai, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor of Abia State have all gone.”

He lamented, in the statement titled “One death too many in Abia!,” that these men are all, almost in the same age bracket and “are noted for their zeal, unrelenting spirit of sacrifice and unequaled protective advocacy in advancing the lives of Abians.”

Asking the troubling and rhetorical question “who is next?” Senator Orji called on “all categories of Abians, Bishops and knights, clergy and laity, saints and sinners to rise in prayers to abort more of such sudden devastating deaths,” stressing that “we cannot afford more sacrifices.”
