Cross River State House of Assembly members have elected Rt Hon. Elvert Ayambem as Speaker of the 10th Assembly of the State.
The lawmakers elected the new Speaker Tuesday, June 13, 2023, shortly after the inauguration of the 10th Cross River State House of Assembly held at the Assembly Complex, Calabar, the State capital.
He was elected unopposed after his closest contender, Rt. Hon. Hillary Bisong reportedly stepped down.
Rt. Hon. Ayambem, who is re-elected for a second term in the House of Assembly represents Ikom II State Constituency
Also elected as Deputy Speaker is Hon Sylvester Agabi representing Obudu State constituency.
