The Chairman, Etim-Ekpo Local Government Area, Mr. Udeme Eduo has counseled members of the newly inaugurated transition committee in the area to put in their best and justify the confidence reposed in them by the state government.
Eduo, gave the charge at the council headquarters in Utu Etim-Ekpo while assigning portfolios to the supervisors at the Council Chambers.
Members of the committee and their portfolios are: Mrs. Obonodo Ini Uko, Secretary to Council and Supervisor in charge of Information and Strategy, Mr. Kenneth Koko Enang, Supervisor for Works, Estates and Transport, Mrs. Alice Jeremiah George, Supervisor for Health, Sanitation and Environment and Mr. Samuel Okon Udoh, Supervisor for Agriculture and Natural Resources.
Others are: Ekemini S. Umana, Supervisor for Education and Skills Development, Mr. Emmanuel Imahauyom, Supervisor for Youth, Sports and Community Service, Mr. Nnamso Etim, Supervisor for Rural Development and Cooperatives as well as Hon. Akanimo S. Akpan, Supervisor for Political, Inter-Governmental Relations and Chieftaincy Matters.
The Chairman reminded the supervisors that, as representatives of the people on a crucial mission, it was incumbent upon them to ensure that they use the best of their abilities to deliver the roles assigned to them for the overall success of the council.
Mr. Eduo emphasized, “Always be mindful of our administrative framework of encouraging all-inclusiveness, the stimulation and encouragement of cooperation to effect a collective participation of the people. We must always contribute our best to achieve the very best.”
He warned against waste of scarce resources at these stringent times adding that, they should be guided by the fact of being resourceful, innovative, inventive , transparent and accountable in their engagements.
The council boss urged them to be productive, frugal and mutually disposed to achieving the goals of the council as prudent managers of resources, while also striving to defend and protect the party (PDP) policies and programmes at all cost.
Meanwhile, all standing committees including the revenue, market and motor park committees in the local government have been dissolved with effect from Monday July 18, 2016.
The chairman, who announced the dissolution during the inauguration of the transition committees, appreciated members of the disbanded committees for their services and ordered them to handover council property and documents at their disposal to the Head of Local Government Service in the council.
In a statement signed by the Chairman, revenue staff in the council have been directed to take over all revenue points in the local government area till further notice.
