Achebe’s ‘THINGS FALL APART at 65’ event holds Sunday, June 25

Professor Chinua Achebe

It is 65 years this year since Professor Chinua Achebe’s epic novel, Things Fall Apart, hit the world with a big bang, and a platform is being set up to celebrate the Masterpiece of all times and its author and statesman.

The occasion will, also, very importantly, be used as opportunity to interrogate some of the themes in the historic work by participants expected to join the conversation from across the world.

A group, Greater Igbo Nation Foundation, is putting together the Things Fall Apart@65 event for 6pm-9pm Enugu timeline on Sunday, June 25, 2023, as an Open Mic Event that will feature as Readers such personalities as Prof. Chris Nwaokobia Jnr, Egbichi Akinsanya, Prof. Chidi Osuagwu, Ernie Onwumere and Yvonne Chioma Mbanefo.

Entertainment icons, Kanayo O. Kanayo and Okey Bakassi are expected to make Special Appearances at the program, which the organizers say will take the form of a “traditional Obiri Fireplace chat around some themes in Achebe’s epic.”

The Anchors of the event are Oluchi Ibe, Ola Uchendu and Ositadimma Agu and the ZOOM LINK is: 838 4639 0265 and PASSCODE is: 337139.

All, the organizers say, are invited to bring along their voices and be part of the historic event.
