Air Force Chief warns NAF Schools on negligence after tragic incident
Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, the Chief of Air Staff, has warned that any negligence by commandants, staff, or instructors in the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) schools that leads to student injuries or threatens their lives will not be tolerated.
This warning was issued in a statement on Thursday by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet and follows a recent tragic incident where Blaise Aliyu, a student at the Air Force Comprehensive School in Kaduna, died after being punished by two senior students.
While speaking with the Commandant and staff at the Air Force Comprehensive School in Iyana-Offa, Ibadan, Air Marshal Abubakar emphasized the importance of student safety and well-being. He stated, “It is your responsibility to follow laid-down guidelines and identify any warning signs to prevent incidents or tragedies. I will not condone any act that leads to injuries or the death of any of our students,” he noted.
Abubakar also stressed the NAF’s commitment to providing a supportive learning environment and ensuring the overall development of students. “Our investment in education is crucial for supporting the families of our personnel and civilians, and for contributing to the nation’s development,” he said.
He urged commandants and staff to always prioritize the interests of the students above all else, ensuring their safety and academic success.
