In a bid to ease the transportation worries of citizens following the naira scarcity and fuel crises in the country, and to woo support for his ambition, Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Akwa Ibom State for the March 18 Governorship election, Mr. Uduakobong Peter Udoh, is funding free bus services in Uyo, the state capital and other parts of the state.
The branded luxurious buses have in the past one week served the transportation needs of citizens across major routes in the state.
In a chat with this reporter on Saturday evening, one of the regular beneficiaries of the Free bus services, Mrs. Idara Anthony, applauded the initiative as being sensitive to the primary concerns of the citizens in this very trying period.
She said, ” For the past one week I have been using these luxurious buses provided by the Labour Party Governorship Candidate to and from work.
“I will trek from my house at Enwe street to Ibom Plaza and join the bus heading to Nung Udoe where I work. I want to thank the man for thinking about us at this time. Instead of throwing money around for mega shows, he has done well to remember people like me who would have gone through hell to go to work every day as naira is still not available. ”
Other passengers who spoke on the condition of Anonymity hailed the Labour Party Candidate for his distinctive style of campaigns stressing that it will help boost the party’s chances of winning at the polls.
A fresh face in the political scene in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Uduakobong Peter Udoh has toured the entire Akwa Ibom State for road shows which has afforded him direct contact with the citizens.
On Saturday March 11, the Uduak/Charles campaign train, benefiting from the extension to campaigns following the rescheduling of the election from March 11 to March 18, 2018, visited Ikono Local Government Area.
Uduakobong Peter Udoh was born on October 8, 1979, and is married with two Children.
He had his Primary School Education at Christ the King International Nursery/Primary School, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State and attended Lutheran High School, Obot Idim, Ibesikpo Asutan for his Secondary Education.
He went on to the University of Uyo where he earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Computer Science and a Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Urban and Regional Planning.
A Member of the Nigerian Society of Corrosion Technicians (NSCT); Member, Nigerian Institute of Safety Professionals (NSP) and Member, Nigerian Institute of Marketing (MNIM), Uduakobong is an Entrepreneur and Business Executive.

The main thrust of his policy framework and administrative blueprint is Poverty Alleviation.
Pre-election polls show the Labour Party Governorship Candidate is one of the top options in the battle for the Hiltop Mansion seat alongside Pst. Umo Eno of the ruling Peoples Democratic party – PDP, Senator Bassey Albert of the Young Progressives Party – YPP and Obong Akanimo Udofia of the All Progressives Congress – APC.
It is believed that the Labour Party swept the polls in the Presidential and National Assembly elections of February 25, 2023, but that the incumbent governor, Udom Emmanuel used his power of incumbency and the fact that he is a leader of the Atiku Campaign Organisation to distort the results from the state.
The March 18 polls will, therefore, be a major showdown between the Labour Party and the others, especially as the LP continues to grow in popularity across the country.
