The All Progressives Congress (APC) is to hold a crucial meeting with all its Senators-elect and House of Representatives; members-elect on Thursday, June 4, at the International Conference Centre in Abuja.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday by is National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party explained that it will meet with its Senators-elect at 10 a.m. while the meeting with its elected members of the House of Representatives is scheduled for 2 p.m. on the same day at the same venue.
It urged all the elected APC federal lawmakers to be punctual for
their respective meetings.
Though the agenda of the meetings were not spelt out by the press statement, it is believed that the party leadership intends to thrash out the issue of who occupies the positions of Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives, which has over the past weeks become contentious.
An observer of goings on in the APC told Global Patriot Newspapers, that the leadership of the party wanted to use the occasion of the meeting to read the riot act to its legislators.
The Senate Presidency is hotly being contested by Senators Ahmed Lawan and Bukola Saraki while Femi Gbajabiamila and Yakubu Dogara are seriously contesting the position of Speaker.
