Osun State has won the rights to host the 2024 edition of the Nigeria Women Football League Championship, beating contenders Akwa Ibom State in the race.
According to sources inside the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Osun state has agreed to host the championship as a way of showcasing their interest in Women Football.
The South West State has asked the leadership of the League body for few weeks to enable them put all logistics in order for an eventful championship.
Akwa Ibom had earlier been tipped as hosts for the 2024 Nigeria Women’s Football Championship but no agreement was reached with the League board hence the decision to hand Osun State the hosting rights.
It could be recalled that NWFL Premiership Super Six in Yenegoa, Bayelsa state which was won by Edo Queens was described as superlative in terms of organization and performance of participating teams.
Confirming the readiness of the Secretariat of the NWFL to host the Championship, the Chief Operating Officer of the League body, Modupe Shabi said over 19 teams will take part in the 2024 edition of the Championship, with the top teams gaining promotion to NWFL Premier League.
