A total of 2,632 bidders have submitted bid documents to the Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) for prequalification on contract awards in various primary schools across the State.
Successful bidders are to construct new classrooms, renovate schools and or classrooms, fence schools and build toilets, drill boreholes, and landscape, as well as produce pupils’ and teachers’ furniture.
The Executive chairman of the Board, Professor Yahaya Ibraheen Yero disclosed these while declaring open the ceremony for the prequalification for 2016 FGN-UBEC/BASG SUBEB intervention projects in Bauchi.
He explained that the Board’s committee will evaluate all the bids while a tender’s committee and Due process will analyze all the bids submitted and if all necessary formalities are completed, the execution of the contract will commence in February 2018.
Prof. Yahaya Yero however warned bidders that projects not rendered or poorly executed will not be paid for by the Board, adding that they are not allowed to sell or sublet contracts awarded to them without written agreement.
He urged them as part of their corporate social responsibility to ensure that they plant ten trees and fix the National Flag in the schools, and assured them that all the laid down procedures will be strictly followed in the evaluation, shortlisting and selection process to ensure fairness.
The Director of Planning Research and Statistics of the Board, Abubakar Abdu in a remark, commended Governor Mohammed Abubakar for the release of One billion, forty two million, twenty seven thousand naira and two kobo as 2016 counterpart fund.
He said the occasion was to avail the bidders with the new approach to the intervention project, and to confirm that their profiles are intact, expressing optimism that at the end of the exercise, competent contractors will emerge.
