Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel have called on Abia and Akwa Ibom states to work together for the interest of developing the social infrastructure for the benefit of the two states.

Both dignitaries made the call on Friday at the funeral service of mother of Abia state Governor, late Deaconess Bessie N. Ikpeazu in Umuobiakwa, Obingwa, Abia State.

They said, collaboration was necessary for the development of the two states, considering the long history of relationship in commerce, marriage and cultural affinity.

While the Deputy Senate president charged the respective states to galvanize their resources for development especially, in the area of road construction, agriculture and industries to salvage the country from the prevailing economic recession, Governor Emmanuel was of the opinion that, such collaboration coupled with enduring peace between both states, would aid the industrialization policy of the present administration.

They acknowledged Madam Bessie’s contributions as a Nurse to saving lives, care for the family and the community and urged the family to be consoled by the legacies their late mother bequeathed to them.

They also sued for peaceful co-existence among Nigerians saying that, the funeral had joined people of diverse political interests together.
