Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has said fire outbreaks, particularly in major cities in the country, can be checkmated through adequate enlightenment by the relevant agencies.
The governor who spoke when he received in audience the Controller General, Federal Fire Service, Engr Joseph Garba Anebi, and other members of his delegation who paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Enugu Thursday, regretted that the incidence of fire outbreaks in the country caused loss of lives and property worth billions of Naira.
In his words, “It is certainly a situation that needs urgent and adequate attention and requires the concerted efforts of governments through its relevant agencies such as the Fire Service and indeed all citizens of the country to bring it under control.”
He emphasized that the frequency of these fire incidents can be drastically reduced through adequate enlightenment, reduction of proactive and modern preventive methods, as well as enhancing the capacity of the relevant institutions.
Earlier in a speech, Engr. Garba Anebi called for adequate measures capable of preventing the menace of incessant fire outbreaks in the country and commended the governor for his landmark achievements in the state.
