Hillside, New Jersey, US’ Mayor Vertreese honors Nigerian-born Dr. Nelson Aluya

Mayor of Hillside Township, New Jersey, United States of America (USA), Mayor Dahlia Vertreese, as part of the Black History Month, celebrated every February, honored some deserving individuals.

Among those who received the Black History Month awards at a ceremony held on February 25, 2024 are Nigerian-born Dr. Nelson Aluya, President of the Nigerian American Public Affairs Committee (NAPAC-USA) NAPAC USA.

An accomplished medical professional and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of the Newark Community Health Center (NCHC) Newark, New Jersey, Dr. Aluya, who received the Service and Leadership Award at the event, has been in the forefront of efforts to promote the well being of Africans in the the Diaspora as well as Africa Americans in general.

He has been in the frontlines as both a healthcare and a political and cultural activist. He has been vigorously mobilizing, educating, advocating and raising funds and manpower for international medical missions, for pro- black political interests and for cultural events, and all who were part of the Hillside Mayor’s Black History Month program, and those who have since heard of the honor done to Dr. Aluya by Mayor Vertreese acknowledge that it is well deserved.
