Nigerian singer, Johnny Drille, has revealed that he met his wife while signed to Mavin Records, disclosing that they dated privately for about five years before publicly confirming their relationship in 2023.
Drille made the revelation during a recent interview, where he credited music executive Don Jazzy and Mavin Records with bringing him and his wife together.
According to the singer, the relationship began around November or December 2018 but remained away from public attention until July 2023, by which time the couple had already become married.
“I met my wife at Mavin,” Drille said, explaining that keeping the relationship private for years required considerable effort.
“We started dating in November/December 2018, and the rest of the world got to know in July 2023. And that’s probably five years after, and by then, we had already gotten married. It wasn’t easy keeping it under wraps, but I am grateful.”
The singer further said: “Don Jazzy gave me my wife. We were dating lowkey for five years at Mavin Records, and nobody knew.”
Drille’s marriage became public in 2023 after Don Jazzy disclosed that the singer was married.
The singer later confirmed the marriage by sharing a loved-up video featuring his wife, Rima Tahini. He described his marriage as an important part of his life and expressed appreciation to his wife for loving and completing him.
In December 2023, the couple welcomed a daughter.
Drille subsequently celebrated his wife’s strength and resilience while expressing his commitment to protecting and nurturing their daughter.
Before the marriage was publicly confirmed, Drille had been linked by fans to actress Tomi Ojo, who played Rahila in the Netflix series Far From Home.
The speculation followed Drille’s decision to feature Ojo in one of his music videos, which portrayed the pair in a romantic relationship.
An exchange between the singer and Ojo on social media in 2019 also generated speculation among fans about a possible relationship between them.
However, Drille’s marriage to Tahini later confirmed that his relationship had been kept away from public attention for years.
