Lewandowski fires Barcelona closer to another La Liga crown

FC Barcelona moved another step closer to winning the La Liga title after beating CA Osasuna 2-1 on Saturday night.

The victory gave Barcelona a 14-point advantage at the top of the table as they continue their push for back-to-back league titles.

The match at El Sadar was difficult for the visitors, who struggled to create chances for most of the game despite controlling possession.

Osasuna looked dangerous on the counter-attack and almost scored in the first half through Ante Budimir, whose effort struck the post. Barcelona goalkeeper Joan García also made an important save to keep the score level before half-time.

Barcelona improved slightly after the break but still found it hard to break down Osasuna’s defence. Midfielder Pedri worked hard to create openings, but the attack lacked sharpness.

Coach Hansi Flick made several changes in the second half, bringing on Marcus Rashford among the substitutes.

The English forward made an immediate impact in the 81st minute with a perfect cross for Robert Lewandowski, who headed Barcelona into the lead.

Just five minutes later, Ferran Torres doubled the advantage after receiving a fine pass from Fermín López.

Osasuna refused to give up and reduced the score late through Raúl García, setting up a nervous ending for Barcelona.

The home side pushed for an equaliser during stoppage time, but Barcelona defended well to secure an important away victory.

Barcelona can now be confirmed as league champions if Real Madrid CF fail to defeat RCD Espanyol in their next league game.
