The Edo Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Wednesday, paraded four suspects arrested with two trucks loaded with petrol or Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).

The state commandant, Mr Chika Akubuiroh, who paraded the suspects, said they were arrested Monday at different locations in the state.

Though, he said that investigation had already commenced on the matter, he, however, noted that preliminary investigations revealed that both trucks were conveying very low quality petrol, believed to be adulterated.

Akubuiroh who declared war on criminality, especially oil bunkerers and vandalism in the state, noted that ‘the NSCDC does not just arrest but only does that when illegality is concerned.’

The commandant said the first truck with registration number GRA 318 XA, a 15, 000 litre truck, was discovered to be conveying low quality of AGO in addition to some discrepancies in the waybill of the truck.

“While the truck is a 15, 000 litre truck, its waybill reads 33, 000 and that it was conveying PMS instead of AGO it loaded.

“Similarly, a preliminary investigation also shows that the AGO is of low quality,” he stated.

However the driver of the truck, Charles Williams, said he was only a driver and that he was heading to Ekpoma in Edo after he loaded at a depot at Oghara in Delta State.

On the other hand, a 33, 000 litres truck fully loaded with the product was discovered after preliminary investigation to be carrying low quality AGO.

The commandant said the suspects would be charged to court after fully subjecting the products to full laboratory analyses.
