Nigerian striker Ademola Lookman scores his first Serie A goal of the season in Atalanta loss

Nigerian striker, Ademola Lookman, scored his first goal of the 2023/2024 Italian Serie A season as Atalanta suffered a 3-2 away loss to Fiorentina.

The game on Sunday September 17 came exactly seven days after Ademola Lookman scored one of the goals on International duty, as Nigeria spanked Sao Tome 6-0 to end their AFCON qualification journey.

Against Fiorentina, Lookman scored Atalanta’s second goal of the game in the 53rd minute.

The Nigerian international was set free in the opposition penalty area after a one-two with Martin De Roon and fired into the near bottom corner.

Ademola Lookman lasted for 59 minutes before he was replaced by Mario Pasalic.

To settle the contest, Ivory Coast international Christian Kouame scored the winning goal for Fiorentina 14 minutes from time for a 3-2 result in the Italian Serie A.

25-year old Ademola Lookman and his Atalanta teammates will now shift attention to their UEFA Europa League clash against Rakow Czestochowa on Thursday.
