Ohanaeze condoles with Adichie over son’s death

Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has condoled with Chimamanda Adichie, over her son’s death, describing it as heartbreaking news.

Ohanaeze in a condolence message issued on Monday in Enugu by the group’s National Publicity Secretary, Dr Ezechi Chukwu, said it received the news with shock.

“Ohanaeze received with profound shock and deep sorrow the heartbreaking news of the passing of Nkanu-Nnamdi, one of the twin sons of our illustrious daughter, globally acclaimed writer and cultural ambassador, Chimamanda Adichie.

“This tragic loss has cast a pall of grief not only over the Adichie family but also across Igbo land and the global community which admire and celebrate Chimamanda’s immense contributions to literature and culture.

“Her legacy in projecting Igbo identity and values remains remarkable.”

The condolence message quoted the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Sen. Azuta Mbata, as expressing his deepest condolences to Chimamanda and her family.

“On behalf of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide and the entire Igbo nation, I extend our heartfelt condolences to our dear daughter, Chimamanda Adichie, on the devastating loss of her beloved son, Nkanu Nnamdi.

“This is a sorrow that words cannot adequately console. We pray that God Almighty grants her, her family and loved ones the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss and that the gentle soul of the departed child rests in perfect peace,” Mbata said.

It added that Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide stood in solidarity with Adichie during this moment of intense grief and assured her of the prayers, love and support of the entire Igbo nation at home and in the diaspora.

It also prayed to Almighty God to grant eternal rest to the soul of Kanu-Nnamdi and that redemption light perpetually shines upon him.
