A prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, has died, with his family announcing his death on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
Orbih reportedly died on Monday, August 31, 2026. He was a notable PDP figure and an ally of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
In a statement confirming his death, the family said the announcement was made “with profound sadness and a heavy heart but in total submission to the will of the almighty God.”
The family appealed to relatives, friends and well-wishers to support them with prayers as they mourn the loss.
It said Orbih is survived by his wife, Mrs. Florence Orbih, and his children, Ms. Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr Mildred Omonemi Orbih, as well as his siblings and other members of the extended family.
“At this difficult time, we ask family members, friends and well-wishers to remember the entire family in their prayers as we mourn this painful loss,” the family said.
Funeral arrangements for the late politician have not been announced.
The family said further details would be communicated in due course as relatives and associates continue to mourn him.
Orbih’s death comes amid heightened political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, having been a prominent figure within the PDP and associated with Wike.
The family has asked for prayers and support as it comes to terms with the death of the political chieftain.
