Police arrest armed robbery suspect with revolver pistol in Bayelsa

Bayelsa State Police Command has arrested a notorious armed robbery suspect allegedly with a locally made revolver pistol in Bassabiri, Nembe, Bayelsa state.

Police said the suspect was arrested by the Chairman of Opu Nembe Security outfit, a Vigilante group in Nembe that patrols the community.

The command gave the name of the suspect as Akim Fente, a male adult at Ogbopolo quarter in Bassabiri community.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Asinim Butswat, a Deputy Superintendent, DSP, said the suspect was arrested on 16 September, 2017, at about 1400hrs,

Butswat said, Akim Fente was arrested with a locally made revolver pistol, eleven rounds of live ammunition and one expended ammunition.

The suspect has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for investigation.

The Command commends the support and partnership of vigilante groups in Nembe and other communities in Bayelsa State.
