Police authorities in Bayelsa state have confirmed the rescue of a kidnap victim from the hands of kidnappers.
Men of the Marine Police Department and the Anti Kidnapping Unit of the Bayelsa State Police Command, rescued the kidnap victim at Koluama, in Southern Ijaw LGA, on Wednesday at about 11.30pm
A statement by the Bayelsa state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Asinim Butswat said that unknown gunmen attacked the facility of OS/LEX, an Off Shore firm, off Dodo oil field in Amatu and Ezetu area of Bayelsa State, on the 22/06/2015, and abducted three staff of the company.
The victims were kept in a camp between Azuzuama and Koluama, in Southern Ijaw LGA and one Emeka Ezea, male, 37 years, a chemical engineer, escaped from their abductors and trekked for two days before fisherman found and brought him to the Marine Police who were patrolling the creeks.
The Marine Police and the Anti kidnapping unit, the Police spokesman said, are intensifying efforts to rescue the remaining victims and arrest the kidnappers.
This is as suspected pirates attacked a passenger boat along Igbomaturo waterways of Southern Ijaw, carting away undisclosed amounts of money and other valuables.
The pirates, Police said, fled, shortly after dispossessing the passengers of their belongings. No arrests and deaths were recorded in the attack.
The boat attack, according to the Police, occurred at about 6am on Friday morning.
