Port Harcourt Golden Jubilee Polo Tournament ends in style

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has directed the organisation of a Special International Golden Jubilee Polo Tournament to mark the State’s 50th anniversary in May.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Port Harcourt Golden Jubilee Polo Tournament at the Port Harcourt Polo Club at the weekend, the governor said the May tournament will further showcase the peaceful nature of the state for national and international sporting events.

He said that his administration will always promote sports as an avenue to empower youths and enhance business activities.

“I direct the Port Harcourt Polo Club to liaise with the Golden Jubilee Committee to organise an international polo tournament that will form an integral part of the Golden Jubilee celebration.

“We want more people to come and feel the peaceful nature of the state and also benefit from the business opportunities that abound in the state”, Governor Wike said.

The governor commended the organisers of the tournament which attracted polo players from across the country. He said the tournament was entertaining as it drew more people to Polo.

President of Port Harcourt Polo Club, Mr. Ibiwari Pepple commended Governor Wike for supporting the growth of sports in the state.

He assured him of the support of the Port Harcourt Polo Club in all his efforts to uplift the state.

Highpoint of the Polo Tournament was the presentation of trophies and awards to deserving teams and players.
