Nigerian-born British artist, Chinwe Ibe Russell is exhibiting her works at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, France.
Ibe Russell, born of Obowo, Imo State, Nigerian parents wrote of her invitation to exhibit at the renowned art center: “Dear all, I am very pleased to announce that I accepted an invitation to exhibit at the Carrousel du Louvre for the 2022 Focus Art Fair. I will be there with a collection of Africa inspired big paintings and some of my recent ceramic sculptures. This is a most exciting adventure which brings me to the heart of the French art and fashion industry.
“The Louvre is one of the most prestigious institutions in the world and the Carrousel du Louvre has played host to some of the most spectacular fashion shows the world has ever seen. It is in this venue that our works will be shown, not just on the walls but on the catwalk!
“The selected pieces will be presented by stylish models one by one in a true runway style show.
“I am filled with excitement as I think of the journey that I have made and the one yet to be made.
“As I sit on the sofa in my rented apartment in Paris, I cannot help but reflect on my history with this city of love, art and fashion….”
