Okorocha, other dignitaries bid Hon. Justice Christiana Anwukah colorful farewell

Late Justice Anwukah

The remains of Hon. Justice Christiana Ukachi Anwukah, the wife of Professor Anthony Gozie Anwukah, former Minister of State for Education in Nigeria (2015 -2019), has been laid to rest on Friday, October 9, 2020 at the Anwukah Family Home in Egbuoma, Oguta, Imo State, Nigeria.

Justice Anwukah, aged 63, was President of the Imo State Customary Court of Appeal, Owerri before she took ill and passed on in the United States of America, US.

Her husband, and the Chief Mourner, was also Secretary to the Imo State Government for four years under the then Governor Rochas Okorocha and was Vice Chancellor of the Imo State University, Owerri.

The colorful burial program, the huge turnout and the outpouring of emotions spoke volumes of the life that she lived and the lives she impacted while she was alive.

Dignitaries from all across Imo State and far beyond turned up to be part of the program, including serving and retired judiciary officers, academics, legislators, past and present government functionaries, the clergy, traditional rulers and others.

But the cynosure of all eyes was former Imo State Governor, presently a Senator, Chief Rochas Okorocha, who, incidentally, is also an in-law to the Anwukahs.

Every stage of the elaborate burial program, including the Service of Songs, the lying-in-state, the Valedictory Court Session, the Funeral Mass, which had Archbishop Anthony Obinna and other senior Clergymen in attendance, to the final leg of Hon. Justice Christiana Ukachi Anwukah’s final journey to the country home of the Anwukah’s, where her remains were committed to mother earth, was carnival-like.

The long procession of vehicles, the array of dignitaries, the tight security, the accompanying music and the stylish pall bearers all combined to give the departed jurist a well deserved farewell.
