President Bola Tinubu and Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara have extended birthday greetings to former Governor of Rivers, Dr. Peter Otunuya Odili, CON, on his 76th birthday today, Thursday, August 15.
Dr. Odili, a respected leader and statesman, was the governor of Rivers State from 1999 to 2007.
President Tinubu, in a message to Dr. Odili by Ajuri Ngelale, his Special Adviser (Media & Publicity), joined “family, friends, and the people of Rivers State to celebrate the former governor on this momentous occasion.
“The President salutes Dr. Odili, recalling his valiant strides in ensuring the infrastructural development of Rivers State, especially by connecting major parts of the state through durable roads and providing sustainable electricity through independent power projects.
“The President acknowledges the landmark efforts of the founder of the PAMO University of Medical Sciences, Rivers State, in developing human capacity in health and education for the benefit of the present and future generations.
“President Tinubu celebrates the statesman renowned for his unaffected humility and facility for mentoring and raising generations of leaders who remain at the fulcrum of impacting local, state and national development.”
The President commended Dr. Odili for his service to the nation, his patience, grace, and notable strength of will and prayed for more years of good health, joy, and happiness for Dr. Odili and his family.
In his birthday greeting, Sir Fubara, extolled the unblemished leadership qualities and fatherly mentorship of Dr. Odili, describing him as an exceptional statesman, a living legend and a catalyst for propelling several individuals into political spotlight, both in Rivers State and Nigeria.
He said, in the message by Nelson Chukwudi, his Chief Press Secretary, that former Governor Odili’s good fatherly role in helping the State Government navigate the present political situation was exemplary, adding that “the State needs leaders like Dr Peter Odili to take the people to the Promised Land of our dream.
“You are an embodiment of genuine leadership, a mentor and preeminent political colossus, responsible for elevating every member of the political class in the State, without any pecuniary interest.
“You have continued to lend your voice on critical State issues as a devoted crusader for justice, equity, and fairness in your desire for a peaceful and united Rivers State.
“I, on behalf of my family and the good people of Rivers State, pray that Almighty God continues to guide, prosper and bless you with resounding sterling health and many more fruitful years of celebration and distinguished service to humanity, Rivers State and Nigeria,” he noted.
