U-20 World Cup: Nigeria battle South Korea in Quarter-final today, Sunday

Nigeria and South Korea will battle for a last-4 spot at the 2023 FIFA WORLD Cup when they meet in today, Sunday,June 4, 2023’s quarter-final.

A stunning 2-0 win over Argentina sent Nigeria through to this stage while South Korea were 3-2 victors of Ecuador in their last round.

Two teams flying their continents’ flags in the last-8, Nigeria and South Korea will continue their push for a first ever U-20 World Cup title at the Estadio Unico Ciudad by 6:30pm today.

Both countries have a win apiece in their previous meetings at U-20 level. In 2005, the Tigers of Asia defeated Nigeria 2-1 while the Eagles came out 1-0 victors in 2013.

Nigeria U-20 coach Ladan Bosso has not repeated his starting XI at this tournament and will likely introduce AC Milan youngster Victor Eletu for Jude Sunday on Sunday evening.

For South Korea Coach Kim Eun-jong, the best XI to contain their physically stronger opposition is expected. According to him, the Eagles are compact and play with loads of energetic players.

The winner of this match will face Italy in the Semi-final. The Gil Azzurrini defeated Colombia 3-1 in their quarter-final meeting on Saturday night in San Juan.
