The weekend of September 25 to 27, 2026 will remain unforgettable for alumni of the iconic Edo College Benin City, Edo State Nigeria, who came together in Newark, New Jersey, United States of America (USA), to inaugurate the North America Chapter of their old boys’ association.

The fellowship, camaraderie and joy shared by the older old boys and the much younger old boys, will remain unforgettable for the old boys, especially those in North America who were seeing each other for the first time, some since passing out of the legacy school several years ago.

Involving delegates from different parts of the US, Canada and Nigeria, the inauguration of the Edo College Old Boys Association (ECOBA), North America Chapter, was, indeed, historic, as the Worldwide President of the Association, Engr Greg Ogbeifun, flew into the US to give a Keynote address, preside over the inauguration of the chapter and swearing-in of the newly elected Executives, and generally, actively, participate in the program.

Engr. Ogbeifun’s keynote address was aptly titled “Bridging Memories, Bridging Futures.” Apart from bridging memories, including recollections of the relationship between Edo College and neighboring girls’ schools, some of their wives attended some of those schools, the august gathering also made efforts to raise funds for development of their alma mater.

Those who attended that historic inaugural event left with evergreen memories of the past, the best experiences of the present, including sumptuous meals, choice drinks and beautiful music, and visions of a more glorious future for their alma mater. The new Executive of ECOBA North America chapter gave assurance that they would not disappoint.

The new executive members are Chairman – Engr Edwin Tongo – Illinois – Class of ’73; Secretary – Hon. Ejonoh Enaohwo Esq – New Jersey – Class of ’74; Vice Chair – Dr. Uwa Eigbe – Texas – Class of ’82; Treasurer – Engr Henry Olomu-Erigbe – Florida – Class of ’87; and Publicity Secretary – Dr. Maya – Class of ’94.
