Winners Chapel Church cancels wedding ceremony because couple’s late arrival

A wedding ceremony scheduled to hold at Winners Chapel, Youth Avenue, Mbiabong Etoi in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State by 10am on Saturday, July 16, 2022 was reportedly cancelled because the couple arrived late for the ceremony.

It was gathered that the groom was contacted by the Winners Chapel, Youth Avenue Senior Pastor by 9:45am and he confirmed he was on his way to Church.

30 minutes later another call was put across to the groom who was, according to eyewitnesses who spoke to this reporter, no longer responding to calls.

When the intending couple finally arrived at the Church premises, the wedding ceremony had been cancelled by the Church.

The incident has attracted diverse reactions from people on social media with some views lamenting the decision to “embarrass the couple on their big day because of lateness.”

Some people, however, are in support of the church’s decision, citing laid down church rules and regulations which the couple, by virtue of membership and association with the Church are expected to be aware of and to adhere to.

It was learnt, however, that the couple, who had a successful Traditional Marriage Ceremony days ago arranged and exchanged their marital vows at another location in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
