Journalist escapes death in Akwa Ibom; Shot on the head

Akwa Ibom State Information Officer attached to the Political, Legislative and Water Resources Bureau, Mr Edifon Solomon escaped death by the whiskers in Uyo at the weekend.
Global Patriot gathered, that the incident, which occurred around 3 p.m at Christ Apostolic Church, off Ikot Ekpene Road, where the victim and family were attending a wedding reception caused panic as worshippers were running helter-skelter.
Though, the reason for the attack could not be ascertained at press time, a source close to the family hinted that Mr. Solomon may have been hit by a stray bullet.
The source who, craved anonymity said that he was hit on the head, alleging that, the stray bullet may have been shot from outside the Church.
“The incident, the source further stated, happened at Christ Apostolic Church during the wedding reception of a close friend at about 3 pm, stating that, the gunshot fired into the Church went straight in the victim’s direction and hit him on the head.”
Mr. Solomon, who was immediately rushed to an undisclosed hospital in the metropolis after the incident, is said to be responding to treatment.
Akwa Ibom State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Odiko Mac-Don said that, investigation into the matter has begun and assured that anybody found culpable would be brought to book.
