The duo of Taiwo Abiodun and Ekele Danuloko won their boxing bouts in the light heavyweight and flyweight categories respectively at the All Africa Games in Congo.

Abiodun dispatched his Zambian opponents, Emmanuel Kabwe, to reach the next round of the 52kg.

Though Abiodun progressed at the expense of the Zambian, it was a tight contest that witnessed the Nigerian winning by two points to one.

Danuloko also won his fight against Kenyan boxer, Tobias Ayoi, by a split decision of two to one points.

The 31-year-old Nigerian pugilist admitted that his Kenyan opponent was “very strong.”

He explained that Ayoi gave him a fight to remember in all three rounds of the light heavyweight bout.

“He was very, very strong. I won the first round, the second round he dragged it with me and at the end of the second round my coach told me it was not a good round and that I needed to up it in the third round,” said Danuloko.

Danuloko also said he is in good shape for the All Africa Games as he has been in camp for five months and attributes his physical and mental readiness to the style of training from his coach.

“My coach’s training is very hard. For the past four, five months we have been in camp training for this competition, so I find it easy doing my thing,” he rounded off.
